Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) Practitioners

EAP is otherwise known as ‘equine therapy’ or ‘horse therapy’ – delivered by clinicians, who offer treatment for mental health conditions. counselling and psychotherapy services.

Our Certified EAP Practitioners are registered mental health and clinical professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, counsellors, psychotherapists, mental health occupational therapists and nurses) who have also successfully completed over 120 hours training, supervision and assessment in EAP, and now offer it as specialist clinical modality within their professional field of practice.

Lisa Palmer (BSW)

Bachelor of Social Work
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning (EAP/L)

I am a Social Worker with 28 years of experience working with children, adolescents and their families in the area of trauma, including sexual assault and family violence; youth offending; vocational rehabilitation and clinical mental health.

In addition to EAP/L I have training and experience in evidence-based mental health therapies such as CBT, ACT and DBT.

I am a new service in this area and as such will be exploring the nature of the service I will be providing. I am particularly interested in supporting riders in their relationship with horses; the area of mental health; and organizational leadership programs.

However I am happy to provide services to people above the ages of 13 years and over with any goals they identify at this time.
